Seattle-based DoctorfunK's debut CD, "Prescription For Soul", on Strokeland Records, showcases the high energy and musicianship of this fine horn band.
DoctorfunK has a sound you'll be familiar with - 9 musicians and a lead vocalist. Adding some spice to the CD are some familiar helpers: Mic Gillette with a hot trombone solo on "Step Up To The Plate"; Fred Ross sharing lead vocals on "Gotta Get Funky"; and Jeff Tamelier with a nasty guitar solo on "Livin' In Bump City". Jeff worked very closely with Gary Verrill (Keyboards) and Jack Halsey (Trumpet and Arranger) on the final mix and the result is very special.
The CD features originals, a few covers (including 2 Strokeland tunes done LIVE!), a Tower of Power tribute song (Livin' In Bump City) and an original from Doc Kupka, Emilio Castillo and Sean Holt (Step Up To The Plate).
