Strokeland Records producer and former Tower of Power lead guitarist Jeff Tamelier has released this unique solo project that is best described as a Funk Guitar Orchestra. Layers of Jeff's trademark funk riffs and great lead work punctuate this album.
"Strat Got Yo' Tongue" is a unique blend of rhythm and lead guitar layering which creates an incredible funk, rock and R & B sound. From the power sound of the title cut to the smooth picking southern blues style of "That's Just The Way It Goes" Jeff has found a style all his own.
Featured with Jeff on this album are: drummers David Garibaldi and Herman Mathews; bass players Francis Rocco Prestia, Bobby Vega, and David Margen; guitar players Bruce Conte and Freddy Stone; percussionist Michael Spiro; keyboardist Jim Pugh; saxophonist Norbert Stachel; cellist Mark Summer; violinists Evan Price and Carlos Reyes; and vocalists Alex Ligertwood, Glen Walters, and Brent Carter.
Jeff Tamelier takes us on an amazing ride through straight-up funk, rock, and dance styles, all executed in his own trademark style. A real highlight of the project is "Rap Stew", with Brent Carter rapping over a deep groove by David Garibaldi, Rocco Prestia, Freddie Stone and Jeff on guitars, and Mark Needham on percussion. "Rap Stew" is a tribute to Bay Area funk and gives the musicians space to lay down their trademark grooves. Respect.
The album, recorded at Coast recorders in San Francisco, was engineered by Mark Needham and produced by Sandman Music and Jeff Tamelier.
